Are Cell Phones Contaminating Your Kitchen?

Posted on November 02, 2018 by Rachel Frichtl

People are rarely without a cell phone. Cell phones go everywhere with us and are constantly touched by hands and faces, resulting in thousands of pathogens on their surfaces.  A recent article in TIME magazine stated: “cell phones carry 10x more bacteria than a toilet seat”.

As foodservice professionals, we should leave cell phones out of the kitchen to help prevent the spread of illness. Designate a place for employee cell phone use.  If you do touch your cell phone, make sure to wash your hands before returning to work.
